THROWBACK THURSDAY: Drake ft. Lil Wayne & Jay-Z - Light Up (Rikers Remix)

Talk about a hell of a throwback. This song makes me nostalgic in a way. It takes me back to the days when Guru and I were just discovering our potential to sniff out the hottest new tracks, back to the days when Young Money was relevant and Drake was just blowing up for real, back to the days when LIL WAYNE WASN"T TUNECHI AKA WAS THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE... but I digress. Those were the days, but now they're over. This song marks the end of an era. Drake is now his own entity, Tunechi is putting out consistent trash with a few brief flashes of his immortal talent, and Guru and I are (semi) functioning adults. In terms of the actual track, I would like to say a few words. Drake is on point as usual, Jay-Z spits some real ish, and Wayne delivers one of his hottest verses over the phone from Rikers Island. This is, as far as I'm aware, a unique moment in music history. And it's straight fire. Check out this historical piece, and DL it below.

The Melker Project - Get Out The Way & 1 Year Anniversary of Prevolutionary

HELL YEAH FUCKIN RIGHT! What started out as a pet project is still a pet project, but it's a year later! Today is the one year anniversary of Prevolutionary. I'm pleased that I still put some semblance of effort into this site, even if the Guru doesn't spend much time here. Oh well, we can address that later.

Here we have another one of Scott Melker's fantastic mashups. Crazily enough, he incorporates classic rap, some metal, and some house tunes into this one, and it sounds simply FLAWLESS. This one is good for any workout mix. Check it out and DL below.

Kid Ink - Messin Up My High

An oldie but a goodie. This here is for all of you having a rough day, I sure know it helps me endure the tough times. Kid Ink from waaaaay back, reminding you to chill. Listen and DL below.

Logic ft. Big Sean - Alright

Taking it down to a chill note. If I smoked, this would be the joint, no pun intended. Logic can, somehow, always manage to inspire me regardless of the tone of the track. This track is laid back, almost to the point of being sad and solitary, but every time I hear it, I just want to run through a wall to disprove everyone who said I couldn't do what I wanna do. This is a must DL for those of you who need a pick me up this fine hump day. Listen and do it below.

Drake - 0 To 100 (Grandtheft Bootleg)

Since I missed the daily post yesterday, I'll do two today, maybe a third if you're all good and stay quiet.... okay so I'll probably do a third anyway, but this isn't about that. This is about Grandtheft's Bootleg remix to Drake's recent hit, 0 To 100. If I had control of a radio station, plays for this remix would go from 0 to 100... real quick. See, normally I'm not a fan of DJs remixing Drake's stuff. Drake is insanely talented, and as far as I'm concerned, his stuff is too high quality to be remixed. However, there are always exceptions, and this is definitely one. Grandtheft hardly changed the song, just threw in a few extra synths, enhanced the noticeable parts of the beat, and changed a few tones. Why fix it if it ain't broke, am I right? Anyway, check it out and DL it below.

Machine Gun Kelly - Sail

I won't say that this is reminiscent of Eminem, because MGK's voice is a lot deeper than Em's..... but damn it if this isn't reminiscent of Eminem. He speeds up and slows down his flow seemingly without effort. Not to mention his technique and lyrics are clearly a cut above the average rapper. He may be from Cleveland, but this is one you can't sleep on. Check it out below.

D.VELOPED - Gas Pedal Play

Holy hell. I was about to be done posting today, and was just absentmindedly skimming my source sites, when I stumbled upon this beauty of a mashup. This is actually more the old 2005 ish style remix that I miss oh so much. I'm pretty sure D.VELOPED isn't even a real artist, more of a SoundCloud devotee with a knack for his hobby, but I'll be damned if this isn't a good mix. It just fits. I don't know, check it out for yourself. Track and DL link below.

Young Jeezy - I Luv It

Hell of a throwback here, hell of a throwback. Back then, Jeezy was on the come up, Freaknik was alive and kicking, and I was learning what sex was in Jr. High. Ahhhh. The good old days. If you don't know this song, you don't know rap, and if you don't like this song, then you don't deserve to breathe. This is the definition of classic Jeezy. Enjoy. Track and DL link below.

Gucci Mane ft. Young Jeezy & Boo - Icy

Throw back Thursday ladies and gents, and I'm getting back to my roots. Yes, indeed there was once a day that your boy Prevolutionary didn't know of the existence of EDM. The closest brush I ever had with it previous to junior year of high school was Blue playing at the roller rink at 6th grade skate parties. So we go back to the good old days, when ball and hip-hop were my only concerns. Icy is a classic. If you know this song, you pretty much automatically agree. If you don't, welcome to a time warp. All today is gonna be rap. Enjoy. Track and DL link below.

The Weeknd ft. Drake - The Zone

As if I need any rationalization for putting the Weeknd AND Drake on here. Sleep tight suckas. Track and DL link below.

Tech N9ne - He's A Mental Giant (Prod. by Seven) (Music Video)

I said you wouldn't see much of Tech on this blog, because honestly, y'all can't handle him for real. He's not mainstream, he's not well known or well liked, shit, he isn't even mentally sound. But he is mentally gigantic and lyrically unmatched. Close second behind Kanye. This one is one of his best. Aggressive tones, interesting video, and the beat is special. The "He's a mental giant" sample in the chorus was taken from a cartoon called Boy Meets Dog produced and released in 1938... Se7en outdid himself on this beat. I looked hard for this one, but I could only find a mixtape version instead of the true CDQ one. If you want to get the pristine version, I suggest iTunes or a youtube audio rip site. Track and DL link below.

Kanye West ft. Keri Hilson, Pusha T, & CyHi the Prynce - Take One For The Team

Old favorite. I first heard of this song when a buddy of mine blacked out and tweeted one thing throughout the whole epic saga of his night: "Hand on my dick in my thousand dollar jeans." If that doesn't warrant a listen, I don't know what does, especially when I heard details from his evening. Eye opening to say the least, and the song keeps that trend alive. Kanye is my number one rapper, and the group with him in this banger goes all out. This one is bass heavy, turn down those subs. Track and DL link below.

Chief Keef - Love Sosa (RL Grime Remix)

If you listen to house music at all, chances are you've probably heard this one. It's been out since about mid summer, but its still one of RL Grime's best works. Produced during the height of Chief Keef's popularity in the northern states (believe me, he's still kicking down south), Grime combined his fame with the rapidly growing success of the trap music genre. Result: a banger for the ages. Track and DL link below.

It's November 18th today guys, what did you think I was gonna post? Not much to say, old classic. This one brings back so many memories. Enjoy. Track and DL link below.

Kevin McCall - Bruce Wayne

I'm a huge Batman fan. For someone to make a tribute like this... I just can't. The beat is absolutely sick and McCall actually makes relevant references to the Dark Knight while maintaining a solid flow. I'm a huge fan. Track and DL link below.
